 Quote of the Day

If a man is called a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and Earth will pause to say, Here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well.
— Martin Luther King, Jr.

“As you climb the ladder, you don’t get less ‘no’s. Hopefully, the ‘no’s that you get just come from ‘more important’ people.” -Mateo Messina

Key Take Aways:

  • When you commit to more than you know you can handle, you might discover that you’re capable of more than you thought
  • As you move up, in any industry, you continue to get the same number of ‘no’s. But hopefully the ‘no’s that you get start to come from people higher and higher on the ladder. You must get used to rejection
  • When you don’t know, don’t let that stop you. Sometimes you have to jump in, and learn as you go
  • Sometime’s it better to not know what you don’t know. Just give it your all, and jump in
  • Asking the right questions can be one of the most important skills to the musician
  • Just show up every day. Whatever you do, whether you feel like it or not, just show up
  • Being talented is a baseline. You have to be fun to work with and hang with as well, in order to get jobs
  • Word of mouth and personal recommendations will get you further than anything
